CO₂ Fracturing

CO₂ fracturing, or fracking as it is termed in the industry, is the process in which CO₂ is injected into a well site for better production.

There are several benefits to using CO₂ over water for injection and the greatest being that by usng CO₂, we are helping to elminate the usage of one of our most precous resources, water. A lot of well formations are sensitive to water. It can cause a swelling of the clays or possibly cause corrosion build up, both of which cut down on the production of that well. There is also the added process of removing the water before the gas or oil back to the wellhead. When CO₂ is used as the fracking agent, it turns into a gas within the well, so there is are no additional steps/costs before the gas or oil can be retrieved.
